All About Police Clearance Certificate Attestation

Indian Passport holders are issued with Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) in case they have applied for Residential Status, Employment or Long term visa or for immigration. Police Clearance Certificate Attestation (PCC) is not generally given for those who are going abroad on a Tourist Visa.

Documents required for applying PCC in India

1. Documents needed for skilled/semi-skilled workers(through recruiting agents who has been registered with protectorate of Emigrants)

Skilled individuals who have got an employment contract directly with the foreign employer are required to submit copies of the following documents (originals for scrutiny and return):

  • Original old passport with the photocopy of its first two and last two pages with self-attestation including ECR/Non-ECR page and page of observation (if any).
  • In case of change of address should submit the proof of present address.
  • Employment Contract with the foreign employer which is self-attested.
  • In case the visa is already obtained, a copy of valid visa along with Official English translation, if the visa is not in English, should be submitted

2. Documents needed for unskilled/women workers (through recruiting agents registered with protectorate of Emigrants)

Unskilled workers and women who are below 30 years of age, seeking job directly abroad are required to submit copies of the following documents (originals for scrutiny and return):

  • Original old passport with the photocopy of its first two and last two pages including ECR/Non-ECR page and page of observation (if any) which is self-attested.
  • In case of change of address, the applicant should submit proof of present address.
  • Duly attested Employment contract from the foreign employer by the Indian Mission or permission letter from the concerned Indian Mission/Post.
  • In case visa is already obtained, copy of valid visa along with Official English translation if the visa is not in English should be submitted.

3. Documents needed for skilled/semi-skilled workers (through recruiting agents)

Skilled/semiskilled workers who have entered into job contract with the foreign employer through recruiting agents registered with protectorate of Emigrants are required to submit copies of the following documents:

  • Original old passport with photocopy of its first two and last two pages including ECR/Non-ECR page and page of observation (if any) which is self-attested.
  • In case of change of address, proof of present address.
  • Copies of Original Employment contract, duly attested demand letter and power of attorney from the foreign employer, valid registration certificate issued by the Protectorate of Emigrants in copy, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Govt. of India.

4. Documents needed for a family member

  • Original old passport with photocopy of its first two and last two pages including ECR/Non-ECR page and page of observation (if any) which is self-attested.
  • In case of change of address, proof of present address.
  • The person who is sponsoring the emigration of the PCC attestation applicant should submit the sponsorship declaration.

There are two kinds of attestation procedure for the Police Clearance Certificate in the home country. You are supposed to select the suitable one for legalising your P.C.C certificate.

1. P.C.C issued by the City Commissioner of Police on their letter head in original
2. P.C.C issued by the nearest passport office in original
